With my mother attending a Qigong conference, our base by the river even comes with some unique surprises—like a mysterious floating tube teasingly placed next to gator-infested waters. I finally embraced the waves for a swim, a first since we left home. And while the allure of stormy weather brings an unusual excitement, our riverside retreat with its curious mix of hammock relaxation and busy roadside buzz offers the perfect backdrop for a memorable week in Georgia.
